(DRF) has the simple vision that, through work, a cure will be found for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a tragic genetic disease.
Formerly the GM Trust, it has continued to invest and fund various genetic related research. Duchenne Research Fund exists to find and fund research that will bring a cure for DMD closer, improving the conditions of those living with DMD along the way.

EuroGene is the brainchild of Dr Margaret McDonald, CEO Duchenne Research Fund, which strives to congregate fellow genetic-related charities, clinicians, scientist, families and any other interested organisations to join hands and claim funding from the Horizon 2020 programme.
The vision behind EuroGene was to create a broad base of people/oragnisations, who were interested in finding a cure for genetic diseases, to gather at one platform. The project wanted to gather as much support and backing as possible to be able to knock at the doors of the European forums, making them aware of the strife and struggles of genetic diseases and the patients/people involved.
By raising awareness within the European forums, we could be able to claim some of the €80 billion euro available for scientific research within Europe. This is one of the main goals of the EuroGene project, to enhance and encourage research into cures for genetic diseases. From the billions of euro available, we believe that we derserve a share from the funds.
The Human Genome project was able to decode the entire human genome, hence we are now able to understand the genetic alterations involved in causing genetic diseases. Hence, we should now promote research into making cures for these diseases, taking advantage of the Human genome project and use it to great effect.
What is the use of knowledge when we cannot positively use it to our advantage and improve the lives of millions?
Despite getting the ball rolling, Duchenne Research Fund fully understands the challenges and hurdles involved in making this project a success. Therefore, considering the size of our organisation, Duchenne Research Fund is looking for larger organisations to step up and carry the project over the line. If successful, the project will be able to provide much-needed funds for genetic charities for all member organisations, allowing us to maximise our chances of finding a cure for genetic diseases.
